Winnie, the director of the Compliments Culinary Centre here at George Brown College, took her two girls apple picking the other day and brought in a bunch of apples for us to enjoy. I had forgotten how much fun apple picking was, as a kid my mom would take us all of the time, I remember my brother and I getting into trouble for climbing the trees not using the ladders. My mom’s favourites were the windfall apples (the ones on the ground) they were easy to pick and cheaper then the ones still in the tree!

I don't know if it was the trip to the local fair or the colder weather, but I have had a serious craving for some fried dough for a good week. Since I try to avoid donuts at the drive through with my coffee, and making donuts from scratch at home is more work than I was willing to commit to today I opted to make some fritters.
